A trading journal is a record of every trade you take — including setup, entry, exit, result, and reasoning. Consistently journaling is one of the most reliable ways to improve trading performance because it forces you to review decisions objectively, identify patterns in your mistakes, and build on what's working. Research consistently shows that traders who journal outperform those who don't, simply because they have a feedback loop. Without a journal, every losing streak starts from scratch. With one, every loss becomes data.
FX Replay's journal is the only one built inside a backtesting platform. With standalone journals like Edgewonk or TradeZella, you backtest in one tool and journal in another — manually exporting CSVs or copy-pasting data between them. FX Replay eliminates that entirely: trades from your backtesting sessions are logged automatically in the same environment where you're practicing. For live trading, it also syncs directly with MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, and Tradovate. No spreadsheet, no CSV headaches, no switching tools. It's also included free with every FX Replay plan — not a separate paid product.
Yes. In addition to manual entry and live syncing, FX Replay’s trading journal supports universal CSV imports. Just upload your exported file, and our system will auto-map your data. You can also make adjustments before finalizing the import.
The AI tag engine analyzes your trade tags — the labels you apply to setups, sessions, patterns, or conditions — and identifies which combinations produce the highest win rates and best returns. Instead of reviewing tags manually and drawing conclusions yourself, the engine surfaces the data automatically: showing you that, for example, your London session breakout trades tagged "trend continuation" outperform your New York reversal setups by a statistically significant margin. This helps you focus your practice on what's actually working.
Yes. FX Replay's journal includes an advanced filter engine with AND/OR and Include/Exclude logic. You can build queries like: "Show me only long trades, taken during the London session, tagged as momentum setups, that hit at least 1R" — and the journal will isolate that exact subset of your trade history for review. This level of filtering is not available in spreadsheet-based journals and goes beyond the basic filtering most standalone journal apps offer.
Yes. The trading journal is included with all FX Replay plans — Free, Intermediate, and Pro. There are no additional fees or hidden upgrades to access journaling. Pro plan users get unlimited journaling sessions; the Intermediate plan has usage limits. You can connect an unlimited number of trading accounts to the journal regardless of plan.
